L.     Brief summary: A cold snowy winter day, Mr. Putter decides he should stay indoors. Mr. Putter is too old to go outside, he may fall and Tabby is just not a fan of winter. Mr. Putter and Tabby have a hard time writing because there is so much going on that distracts them from writing the book. Mr. Putter decides to cook while Tabby looks at rabbits. While distracted, Mr. Putter writes a story called Good Things, instead of his mystery novel! It turned out though that all of his family and friends LOVE. Mr. Putter decides that he will wait to write his mystery novel next winter.
M. .  Description of how you would use the book with students: This book would be best used in a classroom when discussing pets and seasons. How did Tabby help Mr. Putter, what is their relationship? Is Tabby treated as a friend or as a pet? Do you have a pet that is your friend? What else could you do in the winter besides write a book?  I would like to use this in the start of the winter and have the children tell me before winter break what they planned to do. When they return they can continue their own story of what they did for their winter break and we can tie it back in with Mr. Putter and Tabby.
